Town Hall website makeover Print

The new Town Hall website is now up. Interestingly enough they felt a very strong need to display "OFFICIAL TOWN WEBSITE" at the top of their pages. For the record, that website is not the "OFFICIAL TOWN WEBSITE." It is the official town GOVERNMENT website. The logo is very nice and professionally done. Amazing what you can do when you're spending someone else's money, namely that of those who live here and had to take a 150% tax increase last year so that they could meet a poor budget.

It doesn't take a whole lot of thought to figure out where they got most of their ideas for the remade site. Just look around here! We've been doing it for over four years now. They just caught up a bit. Anyway, go ahead and have a look. There is useful information there, particularly for those who want to build more postage-stamp lots with housed crammed together. We guarantee you won't have the freedom on that site to speak your mind unless you happen to agree 100% with the Town CEO.

I will say that it is good to see the Town Hall website finally come into a better state of appearance and content. This was one of our mayor's promises in 2006. It only took four years to get done.

I agree the new Nolensville "GOVERNMENT" website is much better all around. I'm grateful to the volunteers who worked on it just as I am the ones who work on this and all other official Nolensville websites that provide information on schools, churches, civic organizations, recreation, HOAs and businesses.

As I understand it, volunteers worked hard on the upgrade for 9 months. (No one asked Gardiner to. He had ours ready within 30 hours of hearing people suggest one was needed.
He's paid for it and provided the expertise since Feb. '06.)

As I understand it, taxpayers do pay expenses for the government website and the part time employee who will
add to it.
But is it the official town website when the meeting minutes that are posted for people to read, bear little resemblance to meetings? Attending is the only way to know what goes on, and even then, its clear decisions are done deals before the yea or nay comes.

The biggest problem IMO with Nolensville government, especially the last 3 1/2 years is that anyone who has a difference of opinion has been treated so shabbily that the majority of citizens have washed their hands of almost everyone connected with Nolensville government. That is not good.

Two faced is the word I would use most to describe some in Nolensville government--pretending things are so lovely and positive, when the opposite is true.

They can plaster "OFFICIAL TOWN WEBSITE" in letters big enough to fill the page, but that wouldn't make it so, anymore than the mayor saying over and over that she is the town CEO makes it so. It just reinforces the prevailing opinion "they just don't get it and never will". It also gives us something to talk and laugh about.

People try hard each time there is an election, to get it right. I don't know if people just aren't good judges of character, or see what they want to see, or if holding office changes people. Probably all 3.

Sorry Gardiner but you are wrong. I just looked at the new website and it is very different than yours. It has the word "official" on it and yours does not. I heard that "official" replaced their first choice... monarchy.
