Historical Society members (and friends),

We're hoping for a huge response to all our advertising for the Community Yard Sale at the Community Center. The sale is outside, under the shade trees, rain or shine.
We're gathering things inside now, so we're going to need lots of help. There is a limit to how much heavy lifting old backs can do.

We need a few helpers Sat.-Tues. night 3-7 PM to help people unload donations into the building. We may need a few people with trucks, trailers and dollies in case we get more calls for pickup than a few of us can do.

Then next Wed. we need help from 9 AM until we're through pricing and sorting every item into catagories inside the building. We have big fans. Our meetings have been cool. Then Thursday we need help putting things outside and covering everything when through. Bob and Becky Leonard are loaning us some clothing racks and Grady brought 2.

The committee decided to have AT LEAST one person to work each of about 10 catagory areas, wearing aprons with pockets and putting purchases inside sacks, and taking money on the spot rather have long lines at a checkout table and maybe people leaving without paying. We also need "floaters" to watch and be friendly.

We will need at least 30 workers Fri. and Sat. for half day shifts or whatever you can manage. We have a lot of good workers out of town or injured. Friday and Saturday will be 12 hour days, starting by 6:30 AM.  Saturday will be later because everything left has to be packed up for pickup by Thriftsmart. If they can't pick up late Saturday, we'll have to put what's left back in the building.

Giving the personal touch will hopefully help sales, reminding people to dig deep for a good cause rather than trying to get things as cheap as we'll give them. When we get too much money Frank Wilson and Betty Friedlander, who need to sit, will put it in locked money boxes for Chuck to deposit.

We need bags of all sizes, light weight tables, paper for wrapping, plastic covers, clothes pins or clamps and hangers. We may need a few more canopies and another flatbed trailer or two.  Jenkins Church and the Lodge will let us borrow their heavy tables if we need more.

Sandy Green will be selling hot dogs, chips and drinks at the concession stand.

Call Peggy Wilson at 776-2714 to schedule your hours.

Hope you can make it.

WAKM (AM 950) Williamson Co. is giving us free daily through the sale. Pete is going to talk live on their "Hometown (something?) show Wednesday 8-9 AM. We're hoping Lew will Friday. I called our cause and event into their Tradetime show today; 794.1950 from 12:15-12:45 weekdays. Anyone can sell, trade or promote anything on air over the phone. We'll try to get someone to call the rest of this week and next too. I'm going to email TV stations and get a small reminder in the Dispatch.

The Dispatch and Brentwood Journal have had coverage. The Tennessean has been notified twice so we're expecting a writeup from them. Our event is on Facebook in at least 3 places. Signs are up and gold fliers are being picked up all over town. Its been on www.nolensvilletn.net <http://www.nolensvilletn.net>  since our meeting.
Its probably on the town website too.

We're hoping for a huge response donating and buying. I've found going garage saling the last 2 Saturdays, handing out our fliers and showing the Dispatch article very helpful in getting donations on the spot or promises to bring their leftovers and tell others to. We have 3 truckloads inside already but we have a LOT of money to raise! I just had a call from Silver Springs HOA wanting to bring stuff and get large items picked up. We appreciate anything anyone can do to help.

I sent this as an email to a few NHS members and interested friends.
I was surprised to see it on the front page, but thanks Gardiner for posting it.
We need to raise $80,000 ASAP and we only have a smidgeon for materials so far. People are eager to get to work and are donating their labor and skills, but
first the money to finish the first phase has to be
in the back before the county approves anything.

Our community is going to have to dig deep and help
the NHS restore a piece of our history for a community center we ALL can use.
