The fourth annual Town of Nolensville sponsored and coordinated "4th of July Celebration" was by any stretch of the imagination a HUGE success. People poured in from all over to listen to some great music, eat, socialize with others, and then watch the great fireworks display. I'll get more story in tomorrow morning (July 5th), but wanted to get some video clips on before going to bed. Thank you, Town of Nolensville, and especially to the sponsors and the awesome Events Planning Committee, as well as all those who volunteered to make this event such a wonderful time for all.
See the full article for video of the fireworks display.

Outside of his first six months on the job as a firefighter, Presley Hughes has been the Fire Chief for 37 years. In an excellent article by Vicky Travis (The Tennessean) she writes:
At 64, Presley Hughes has decided it's finally time to step down as chief of the Nolensville Volunteer Fire Department. "We've got some good, young, capable people," Hughes says, "It's time for them to spread their wings."
An icon of old school Nolensville, Hughes is able to proudly say "We've never missed a call since 1973." That is huge, and Hughes in his typical manner understates the importance. In his tongue-in-cheek type of humor, when asked what the NVFD won't rescue, Hughes said cats in trees, "I tell them I've never seen a cat carcass in a tree."

The first ever Nolensville speed training begins in less than one week!! To be more specific, the first speed training session is next Monday, June 14th at 6am. Each session will be held at the track on Rocky Fork that circles the football and baseball fields. As far as the actual workouts are concerned, a typical Monday will go something like this:

In an article in the Tennessean today by Suzanne Normand Blackwood, reported on the demise of plans to build a new Town Hall in the old Piggly Wiggly shopping center (facing the wrong way toward the ball fields). The Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted last week to cancel their contract with developer Bill Tisano after he failed to raise financing for the project by the June 1st deadline. Despite an outcry from the community last year, town government plodded ahead on what would have sunk Nolensville into deep debt for the first time in its history.
